The opera The Book of Gold premiered on this day (2005), composed by Murray Boren and libretto by Glen Nelson. Boren has written the music for ten operas and over 100 songs and chamber compositions. As an academic, he has previously been the composer-in-residence for BYU, taught at the City University of New York, New York University, and at the University of Nsukka in Nigeria.
